The original boxed set mentions Draj being a major producer of grain, without mentioning which specific grain crops are grown in its fertile mudflats.

Draji grain is used as a staple food in much of the Tyr region. Even though Draj is a warmongering city-state, trade is still good, because other city-states desperately need their crops to feed their starving populations.

In the spirit of the Mesoamerican flavour of Draj, it is possible that Draji grain is in fact amaranth.

Amaranth is a rice or corn-like grain. It has a good taste and is easy to cook. The seeds are eaten as a cereal grain. They can be ground into flour, popped like popcorn or cooked into a porridge. The leaves can be cooked like spinach, and the seeds can be germinated into nutritious sprouts.

Some types of amaranth can also be used as a source of purple-red dye.
