Halfling

Small of stature and wild in appearance, halflings look like well muscled feral children with wise faces. Halflings are renowned for their cannibalism, use of poisons, and feral savagery. They mostly live in the Forest Ridge and have a tribal society similar to elves though far less fractured. Halflings are curious about other cultures and sometimes wander the Tablelands to learn about them and the wider world. Halflings make substandard slaves.

A halfling is a very short humanoid, standing about 3½ feet in height. They are muscled and proportioned like humans, but they have the faces of wise and beautiful children. Halfings weigh 50-60 pounds.

Halflings live to be as much as 120 years old.

The halfling language is a collection of hoots, howls, shrieks, and cries that sounds very much like the constant chatter of the animals that share their forest domain with them. Thus, halflings lying in ambush of other creatures can often converse without fear that their words will be recognized by outsiders, who think them nothing more than the sounds of the untamed jungle.

- Too'lane: In 123 King's Age (-5,159) it reported that a feral halfling scout discovered the Last Tree on Athas. This ancient living artifact is rumored to be atop a mountain in the Forest Ridge. However no rumors are confirmed due to the fact that the halflings are keeping the location secert.
